空气预热器的管箱是通过下管板支承在空预器的框架上，框架又与锅炉构架相连。管子直接受热温度较高，其膨胀伸长量要比外壳大，而外壳又比锅炉构架的伸长量大。因此，管板与外壳、外壳与锅炉构架之间都必须装设由薄钢板制作的补偿器，又名膨胀节，以补偿部件间的不同伸缩，既允许各部件相对移动，又能有效地防止漏风。
